Hare Krishna Food for Life Program Committed to Fighting World Hunger

Here they [the Hare Krishnas] have a reputation like the one Mother Teresa has in Calcutta: it痴 not hard finding someone to swear they are saints…

The New York Times, 敵rozny Journal・

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is doing its part to combat world hunger. In the last three decades, ISKCON痴 滴are Krishna Food for Life・program has served more than 300 million hot, nutritious, vegetarian meals to the disadvantaged throughout America, Asia, Africa, Australia and Europe.

In 1974, seeing street children rummaging through garbage for something to eat, ISKCON founder A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada was moved to tears and instructed his followers that no one within a ten-mile radius of any Krishna temple should go hungry. Today, the program includes free food restaurants, mobile kitchens, and emergency relief services, and distributes upwards of 400,000 free vegetarian meals per day to needy people in more than 60 countries.

典oo much grief and despair in the world is caused by hunger,・says Australian born Paul Turner, international coordinator of Food for Life. 適rishna devotees are dedicated to bring people hope by distributing healthy and sanctified foods.・

Recently, Food for Life chapters in New Delhi and Mumbai inaugurated successful 溺id-Day Meal・programs to combat hunger. These programs aim to liberate underprivileged children from the vicious cycle of poverty; they seek to encourage school attendance by providing students with fresh, nutritious lunches, free of cost. In Mumbai, the program partners with the state government and the Times of India media group, and feeds more than 30,000 students in over 100 schools every day.

In addition to regular distribution in low-income areas, Food for Life has provided aid during several emergencies worldwide. Some recent examples are:

  • Earthquake in Pakistan (2006): Food for Life volunteers from several cities in neighboring India came together to provide relief. Working closely with local military and police, the volunteers set up a base at an ISKCON temple in Udhampur within the earthquake-affected region, and loaded trucks with drinking water, rice, bread, and blankets. The Food for Life team provided these items to the earthquake victims, including survivors in towns with the most severe damage.
  • Hurricane Katrina in Gulf Coast, U.S. (2005): Local Food for Life team members ventured into the hardest hit areas of the Gulf Coast, to distribute hot, fresh meals to affected residents. Food for Life teams in Texas continued to offer aid to evacuees and displaced refugees, serving up to 800 meals daily for several months following the disaster.
  • Tsunami in Southeast Asia (2004): Food for Life was quick to respond, providing relief support and hot vegetarian meals to people on the same day of the disaster. In Sri Lanka alone more than 10,000 meals have been provided daily, along with medical care, clothing, and shelter for orphaned children.
  • Cyclone in Orissa, India (1999): Food for Life was able to distribute more than one million vegetarian meals, along with water bottles, blankets, clothes, and first aid treatment to the devastated survivors.
  • War in Grozny, Chechnya (1995): Since the beginning of the Russian counterinsurgency campaign on Dec. 11, 1994, Food for Life volunteers risked their lives to serve 850,000 bowls of hot porridge, freshly baked bread and tea to the local residents. A New York Times article declared that in Grozny, the Food For Life Krishna devotees 塗ave a reputation like the one mother Teresa has in Calcutta: it’s not hard finding someone to swear they are saints. In a city full of lies, greed, and corruption, the Krishnas deliver the goods.・/P>

NASA-Numerous Anomalies And Scams Allowed

NASA

Numerous Anomalies And Scams Allowed

___________________________________________________________________

This web page is dedicated to NASA Chief Michael Griffin, NASA Historian Roger Launius, and the few remaining Apollo astroNOTS, who make themselves a worldwide laughing stock with their ongoing claim of having walked upon the Moon’s surface.
If the Internet and e-mail were around in 1968, I would have been glad to have a serious open debate with “Apollo believers” on whether the Moon missions were for real or not. However it is NOT 1968, but 2006 and as such, the authenticity of the Moon missions can no longer be debated. Neither does it fall into a “conspiracy theory” as the facts are well known. Conspiracy theories question what really took place, however it has been a well proven fact since the mid 80’s, that the Apollo Moon missions were FAKED.
Although it is common knowledge throughout the world that the Apollo Moon missions were faked by NASA back in the 60’s, many gullible people still accept NASA’s claim of sending men to the Moon, without bothering to carry out any research, or investigation, to see if NASA are indeed telling the truth. There are some who will NEVER accept the Moon missions were faked, regardless of how much factual evidence of a fake is put before them. Those who will not accept that Apollo was a fake, have been brain washed into believing 37 years of lies emanating from NASA, whereby they become brain damaged, and lose touch with reality. We’ve all come across them from time to time as they reiterate their ridiculous statements like, “I can see the flag through my telescope”, or “I saw the rocket lift off, and the TV pictures, so it must have happened”. They also make stupid remarks like “What about the Moon rock brought back by the Apollo astronauts”. How do WE know its Moon rock, its only NASA’s word, and if it is, then it was brought back by scoop and return probe, NOT ASTRONAUTS.
If you are one who lives in a fantasy world, there is no hope, other than a brain transplant, however if you are one of those who has serious doubt about the Apollo Moon landings ever happening, then this site is for you.
The comical aspect about NASA’s 37 year Moon hoax, (Apollo 8), is how it’s making a worldwide laughing stock of NASA, and the astronauts who claim to have traveled to the Moon. The most damning aspect however, is that NASA’s Moon landing scam is confusing the younger generation, by giving them a disorientated view of current space travel and technology. For example, many youngsters who see the shuttle lift off from launch pad assume it is going to the Moon. They cannot understand why it’s only going 150 miles into low Earth orbit, when NASA supposedly made 9 manned journeys to the Moon, (each mission being a return trip of over 500,000 miles), during a 3 year period which began over 37 years ago. Yes NASA made trips to the Moon look like a 10 minute bus ride to the local shops, and we suckers fell for it hook, line and sinker. If NASA did send men to the Moon, then space technology has gone backwards instead of forward. That seems bizarre when one looks at technology advances, particularly in the computer field. Of course space technology HAS NOT gone backwards. What is bizarre is NASA’s outlandish claim.
Since 1995, more and more encyclopedias are making less and less, and in some cases no reference at all, to the Apollo Moon missions. Evidently the publishers have “wised up” to the fact that the Apollo missions were faked, and no man has been to the Moon and back. “A HOLE IN HISTORY”, as Arthur C. Clarke quoted back in 1969.
During the 70’s, a large percentage of the world population had doubt that the Moon landings were for real, however there was no material available upon which to base an investigation, other than the limited number of photographs shown in a few fictional/fantasy books which endorsed Apollo. It was the Internet which brought about the downfall and full expose of NASA’s 37 year hoax, as people worldwide now have full access to NASA’s web site pictures, and can see for themselves the pathetic way in which the photographs have been doctored with the SAME repetitive background. Prior to 1997 it was not possible to see these pictures, but you can now check them out for yourself. Sites exposing the Moon landings as fake, will soon outnumber the untrue Apollo Moon web sites.
AS17/10075899.jpg

The so called lunar map used for Apollo 17 mission, the quality of which is crap, however scale is marked in Kms. Now perhaps some of you pro Apollo NUTTERS out there could tell me WHY this map is marked in Kms, when in the USA the Imperial system of measurement is ALWAYS used? Even today measurements are logged in miles, so they were most certainly using miles back in 1968. Note the alleged landing site marked X and journeys made in varying directions to the so called Stations which are numbered 1 to 10B. Note Station 8 and distance it is from LM landing site.

AS17-134-20494.html

This picture has been taken from Tuttle’s Smithsonian site, and was supposedly taken by astronauts on the 17th mission. However the picture does not appear on the official Apollo 17 web site. The Moon’s surface was, as we were told, very dry and dusty. If that be the case then why do those footprints show up so boldly. The only substance that would leave footprints showing that boldly would be damp sand, and it’s more than likely what it is.
Note curved light marking in top left hand of picture, and black crater between the rock and that contraption. There is no evident sign of the LM in this picture.

AS17/10075973.jpg

Photograph shown on left is supposedly Station 6. Notice how the background is identical with the SAME curved light marking, and crater. However on the horizon, right of center, a white lump, presumably this is supposed to be a distant mountain, has suddenly appeared.
This picture has been taken at some remote desert location, so the shadows one sees are natural occurring shadows from sunlight here on planet Earth. It is but a simple matter to black the sky out, and paste in a background mountain scene.

AS17/10075968.jpg

Now this is supposed to be Station 9, but that SAME curved light marking, and crater are there in background, and picture was taken from exact SAME angle.

AS17/10075976.jpg

This is Station 8, which is Cochise crater. S’funny innit the picture again shows SAME background, and yet again picture was taken from the SAME angle. Text accompanying this picture states “The final parking place of the rover prior to lift off”. Looking at EVA map, Station 8 is the furthest point North from the LM landing site. Did they walk the 5 Kms back to LM?

AS17/10075965.jpg

Now the picture shown on right is Camelot crater which is Station 5. Camelot crater is over 1 kilometer from the landing site in a totally OPPOSITE direction to Station 8, (which incidentally is over 4 Kms from Station 5). Low and behold that SAME curvature of light, but the crater has been obliterated in this shot. A classic example of shuffling the background imagery to try and create differing views.
Tuttle did a poor job of blacking the sky in this picture. Look closely on a high resolution screen, and you will see traces of trees which surround the KSC testing ground within the blackness of space.

AS17-146-22345.jpg

NASA claim that picture on left is Station 7, however it is plain to see that background is again identical,  with that SAME curved light marking, and the angle that picture was supposedly taken is also the same.

AS17-134-20512.jpg

This final picture was taken from the ALSJ web site and is portrayed as the Apollo 17 landing site. One does not need to be a space or photographic expert to spot that this picture, like all the others,  has the SAME identical background. In a nutshell Tuttle has superimposed the SAME backdrop on pictures which NASA claim are genuine Moon photographs taken at differing locations. Note, there are no reticules on this photo, and yet it was supposedly taken by the SAME camera. Questions for PANS, (Pro Apollo Nutters), to answer. If this picture was taken in 1972, WHY did it not appear in any books/magazines etc until 1994, when it first appeared in a newspaper, and WHY is it in color on the ALSJ site, when other pics are in monochrome, especially as they were taken by the SAME camera?

If the astronauts covered an area roughly 8 Kms by 12 Kms, and panned their camera through 360 degrees at various locations, what are the odds against getting an identical background in each picture? Six separate locations which are supposedly miles apart, and yet each has the SAME identical background. In all the pictures one can see a relatively flat foreground, and an abrupt straight line where that foreground meets the background hilly area. This is conclusive proof that background hilly scene has been PASTED onto photograph, and the sky blacked out. If you look at final picture on the REALITY SITE, you will see that same flat foreground, and abrupt straight line where sandy foreground meets bushy area a few yards back.
The evidence of false backdrops is not so noticeable in the earlier faked pictures for missions 11/12 and 14. It is the latter missions, ie, 15/16 and 17 where the anomalies are plainly obvious. When questioned about the authenticity of the Moon landings, NASA’s reply is “We do not have time to answer any questions, the truth is in the photographs”. The truth is indeed within the photographs, and the truth hurts. These photographs are FAKE, which means the Moon landings are also FAKE.

Kazakhstan Demolishes Devotee homes

The Kazakh government has demolished more than a dozen homes of Krishna devotees. This follows an earlier thwarted attempt in April 2006. Kazakh officials have claimed that the land was transferred against Kazakh law. ISKCON devotees claim that this is not true and that this is a case of religious discrimination.

Kazakhstan has recently worked at portraying itself as a place where religious tolerance is respected. At the same time it has been repeatedly criticised by groups such as Forum18, a Norwegian human rights organisation, and is under observation by the OSCE, a group Kazakhstan’sPreュsident, Nursultan Nazarbayev, wants Kazakhstan to chair in 2009.

After the April attempt to evict devotes from their land, a government commission was set up to investigate the matter. According to Forum 18, there was a belief that this was merely to deflect criticism from the government during its Second Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Other groups claim to have suffered at the hands of the Kazakh government, including the Presbyterian Church, one of whose ministers was evicted from the country for 杜issionary activity without registration・shortly after being an official speaker at a state “Day of Spiritual Unity and Conciliation” ceremony, marking the official claim that “religious people and communities” have “full rights”.

On 20November at 6am, orders were received for the devotees to demolish their homes or to have them demolished by the state at their expense. The next day, government demolitionists arrived.

By 23November thirteen houses had been destroyed. The houses that weren’t yet demolished have had their windows and window frames destroyed, making them uninhabitable in the freezing Kazakh winter.

In a phone call, the head of the committee investigating the issue, Amanbek Mukhashev, said “Iknow nothing about the demolition of the Hare Krishna homes ・I’m on holiday. As soon as Ireturn to work at the beginning of December we will officially announce the results of the Commission’sinュvestigation.”

ISKCON’sleader in Kazakhstan, Govinda Swami, who has attempted to raise international awareness of the problem said : “It is snowing in Kazakhstan and these folks are losing their homes. They entered one home where there was a woman with an infant and started destroying her home. We have been regularly told that the work of the commission is not finished and still they have attacked in this way.” He said that it is “not a coincidence” that on 20November his Kazakh visa expired “and on 21st they attacked”.

Meanwhile, President Nazarbayev, is in England seeking economic investment for his country and was invited to officially open the London Stock Exchange.

In September, protests against Kazakhstan’streュatment of ISKCON devotees were held in Washington DC. Following the recent demolitions, protests were quickly organised at the London Stock Exchange during President Nazarbayev’sviュsit.

An 兎arly day motion・was passed in the UK Parliament condemning 塗arassment of and discrimination against Hindu minorities in Kazakhstan・ noting that the Kazakh 鉄upreme Court reviewed two cases regarding Hindu cottages and ruled against the Hindus without inviting the plaintiffs to the hearings;・and called for President Nazarbayev 鍍o intervene to stop action to demolish houses belonging to the followers of Hare Krishna, facilitate legal registration of properties owned by Hindus, allow Hindus to occupy their homes and worship freely.・/P>

Hindus Protest at Kazakhstan’s Washington Embassy

Washington, DC: Over one hundred members of a local Hare Krishna temple, the Hindu-Jain Temple Association, and other Hindu organizations and interfaith groups, protested in front of the Kazakhstan embassy for two hours on September 13, carrying a dozen brightly colored placards that called upon the government in Kazakhstan to stop the ongoing abuse and mistreatment of innocent Krishna devotee, Vaishnava Hindus, in that country.

A simultaneous protest took place in New York City. Both demonstrations were timed to intentionally coincide with the 鼎ongress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions,・held in Kazakhstan. Many human rights groups and international governments, including the United Kingdom and India, are pressuring the Kazakh government to go beyond sponsoring conferences on religious freedom, and instead work to stop bigotry and harassment of religious minorities in their own county.

哲ational Hindu organizations from the UK, United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries call upon the Kazakhstan government to stop harassment and discrimination of Hindus,・said Ramesh Kallidai, Secretary General of the Hindu Forum of Britain.

According to Kallidai, Hindu groups are preparing to launch an expansive international campaign of demonstrations, if the situation is not resolved by the time of Kazakhstan President Nazarbayev痴 official visit to the United States later this month.

A sign of the continuing tensions between Kazakhstan and the Hindu community was the last-minute failure of the Embassy to meet community leaders who had pre-scheduled an appointment with Embassy officials in Washington, D.C. When Sonia Chopra, of the Hindu-Jain Temple Association, Erik Schwarz, a lay Christian minister and interfaith leader, and Anuttama Dasa, ISKCON Communications Director, tried to attend their 1 pm meeting with the Ambassador痴 representative, they were refused entry to the building. The three leaders were made to speak their case while standing on the steps outside the embassy, despite the fact that they had duly made, and had been granted, an appointment for a formal meeting.

To many, the embassy痴 cold shoulder was just another reminder that Kazakhstan officials do not take the voices of the Hindu community seriously.

的 felt offended and demeaned,・said Mrs. Chopra, 的 was promised a meeting with a high-level official, and instead our peaceful group of three religious leaders was refused entry to the embassy. This clearly demonstrates what is wrong in Kazakhstan.・Chopra is planning on lodging a formal complaint with the Ambassador.

The protests stemmed from attempts by local officials in Kazakhstan痴 Karasai district to bulldoze the homes of Krishna devotees, and an ongoing effort to defame the Hindu tradition in the public and in the media by the local government.

展e call on the Kazakh government to follow their own principles of religious freedom and tolerance,・said Anuttama Dasa, Hare Krishna spokesperson. 的t is an embarrassment for the nation of Kazakhstan that local officials are allowed to threaten and abuse innocent people while the head of state proclaims a progressive stance on freedom.・/P>

Krishna Devotees Take on Kazakh Government

–>

India Post, News Report, India Post News Service, Posted: May 22, 2006

NEW YORK: Krishna devotees in Kashkhstan mounted their campaign against the Kazakhstan government to challenge religious persecution. The Kazakhstan government’s attempt on April 25 to bulldoze five ashrams and private homes owned by Krishna devotees – followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) – has triggered protests around the globe.

In Hungary, two hundred protestors demonstrated in front of the Kazakhstan Embassy in Budapest on May 3, accompanied by a real bulldozer driven up to the steps of the embassy. Holding placards reading “Where is religious freedom,” Krishna leaders and Ilona Szent-Iv?nyi, European representative of the International Association for Religious Freedom, appealed to an embassy representative to stop religious persecution. “It is obvious that they [Hare Krishnas] are being purposely forced out,” Ninel Fokina, head of the Almaty Helsinki Committee rights group told the Associated Press. Fokina concluded that, despite the arguments that the Krishnas have failed to properly register the land, their real motivation was simply to usurp the Krishnas’ land-property whose value has soared in recent years.

Authorities ordered the seizure without compensation on the basis of a court ruling in the government’s favor.

Members of ISKCON claim that the seizure amounts to religious persecution and violates their religious and civil rights. India TV headlined the plight of the Krishna devotees, broadcast in India recently, with an interview of Kazakhstan Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov. The program drew immediate action from thousands of viewers, who sent SMS text messages to the station, requesting the Indian prime minister to intervene. “I can assure you that the rights of conventional or ethnic groups living in harmony at peace in Kazakhstan will be protected,” the Foreign Minister promised.

In a two-hour meeting held with ISKCON leaders in New Delhi, the Kazakh Ambassador to India, Kairat Umarov, assured the Krishna leaders that he would personally work to find a solution to the volatile situation. Meanwhile, protests continue to build, with demonstrations planned in New York, Washington, DC, and other American and European cities within the next few days. “We are interested in working with the government of Kazakhstan to arrive at a reasonable solution,” said ISKCON spokesperson Anuttama Dasa in New York. “The national government needs to intervene and act swiftly to ensure that religious and civil rights are not being violated on the local level. Unless that happens, there will continue to be an international outcry.”

UNITED NATIONS MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS

United Nations Millennium Development Goals`At the 2000 United Nations Millennium Summit, world leaders from 189 nations signed the Millennium Declaration, a visionary document containing eight specific goals designed to end extreme poverty throughout the world by the year 2015. Sharing the commitment of these nations to the Millennium Development Goals, Food for Life and its affiliate programs are working hard to “free our fellow men, women and children from the abject and dehumanizing conditions of extreme poverty…” (Millennium Declaration)Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger Every day, 800 million people go to bed hungry and 28,000 children die from poverty-related causes. Worldwide, 1.2 billion people live on less than $1 per day. Food for Life has served more than 150 million hot, nutritious meals in more than 60 countries since its inception. Every day, Food for Life distributes more than 200,000 free meals to needy people in over 100 cities worldwide.Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education Around the world, 115 million school-aged children—56% of them girls and 94% of them in developing countries—do not attend school. Education provides the key to solving the root causes of hunger by empowering individuals to participate in a society’s economy, but learning is virtually impossible when the pain of hunger is demanding attention. Food for Life and its affiliate programs support education by providing not only schools and teachers, but also nutritious meals to give the body and the mind the fuel to learn. The Akshaya Patra Midday Meal Program, for example, feeds 90,000 children every day, with a goal of feeding 1,000,000 by 2010.Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women Two-thirds of illiterate people are women. Half of the 40 million HIV-positive people in the world are women, and that proportion is growing. Women held only 15% of legislative seats national assemblies in 2003.Food for Life recognizes the devastating effects of poverty on women. While women in developing countries are traditionally responsible for food production, nutrition, family planning, health, and education, resources are allocated primarily to men. Food for Life programs seek to lead women out of poverty and into self-sufficiency by providing training and skills, as well as small business loans and cooperative savings programs.Goal 4: Reduce child mortalityOver 11 million children under the age of five die each year, mostly from preventable diseases. Food for Life cares for children not only by offering hot, nutritious meals through its direct food relief programs, but also through projects such as Gokulam-Bhaktivadenta Children’s Home. This refuge provides food, shelter, medical care, and a full education for 75 orphaned and destitute children in a family atmosphere. Gokulam has begun an expansion campaign to increase its capacity to accommodate 250 children.Goal 5: Improve maternal healthEach year, over 500,000 women die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth, and over 50 million suffer from serious pregnancy-related illness and disability. Food for Life’s distribution of balanced, nutritious vegetarian meals to needy women in developing countries helps to improve maternal health by combating common nutritional deficiencies, such as anemia and Vitamin A deficiency.Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseasesWorldwide, 3.1 million people (including 510,000 children) died of AIDS in 2004, as well as 2 million from tuberculosis and 1 million from malaria. Nutritional support, health education, and medical services are all part of Food for Life’s efforts to fight disease and promote health around the world through programs such as the

Bhaktivadenta
Hospital.Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability Over 2.4 billion people lack access to proper sanitation facilities and one billion lack access to drinkable water. Some two million children—6,000 a day—die every year from preventable infections spread by dirty water or improper sanitation facilities.Food for Life promotes environmental stewardship through education and action programs such as Trees for Life, planting tree saplings in school playgrounds and teaching the school children the importance of protecting and maintaining the environment. Furthermore, all of Food for Life’s food programs are completely vegetarian, providing a sustainable alternative to the environmental devastation caused by the meat industry. Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development Many developing countries spend more on debt service than on social services. Monumental debt compounded by high interest rates creates burdens from which these countries will never be free without aid and debt relief from wealthy nations.  In addition to food distribution, Food for Life and its affiliate programs ease the burden by providing services such as education, vocational training, and health care, building the skills and resources necessary to allow people to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. Contributions from generous donors allow Food for Life to provide services at low cost or no cost to people in need.

Many people often wonder what is the view of Lord Jesus Christ in the Krishna consciousness movement.

Srila Prabhupada, the foremost exponent of the Krishna
consciousness movement explains that Jesus is Krishna’s representative, son of God, and spiritual master.

Below are excerpts from Srila Prabhupada’s books, lectures, and conversations about Jesus Christ and his
relationship with Krsna.

“If one loves Krishna, he must love Lord Jesus also. And if one perfectly loves Jesus he must love Krishna too. If he says, “Why shall I love Krishna? I shall love Jesus,” then he has no knowledge. And if one says, “Why shall I love Jesus? I shall love Krishna”, then he has no knowledge either. If one understands Krishna, then he will understand Jesus. If one understands Jesus, you’ll understand Krishna too”
(Srila Prabhupada – Room conversation with Allen Ginsberg, May 12, 1969 / Columbus – Ohio)

As Lord Jesus Christ said, we should hate the sin, not the sinner. That is a very nice statement, because the sinner is under illusion. He is mad. If we hate him, how can we deliver him? Therefore, those who are advanced devotees, who are really servants of God, do not hate anyone. When Lord Jesus Christ was being crucified, he said, “My God, forgive them. They know not what they do.” This is the proper attitude of an advanced devotee. He understands that the conditioned souls cannot be hated, because they have become mad due to their materialistic way of thinking. In this Krsna consciousness movement, there is no question of hating anyone. Everyone is welcomed to come and chant Hare Krsna, take krsna-prasada, listen to the philosophy of Bhagavad-gita, and try to rectify material, conditioned life. This is the essential program of Krsna consciousness.
(Path of Perfection Chapter 3: Learning How to See God)

Christian, Muhammadan, Hindu-it doesn’t matter. If he is simply speaking on behalf of God, he is a guru. Lord Jesus Christ, for instance. He canvassed people, saying, “Just try to love God.” Anyone-it doesn’t matter who-be he Hindu, Muslim, or Christian, is a guru if he convinces people to love God. That is the test. The guru never says, “I am God,” or “I will make you God.” The real guru says, “I am a servant of God, and I will make you a servant of God also.” It doesn’t matter how the guru is dressed. As Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “Whoever can impart knowledge about Krsna is a spiritual master.” A genuine spiritual master simply tries to get people to become devotees of Krsna, or God. He has no other business.
(Science of Self Realization Chapter 2: Choosing a Spiritual Master)

So Lord Jesus Christ said, “My Lord, hallowed be Thy name.” He wants to glorify the name of the Lord. And some people says that there is no name of God. How? If Lord Jesus Christ says “Hallowed by Thy name,” there must be name. The name is there, but he did not pronounce it because the people at that time will not be able to understand or maybe some reason, but he says there is name. So we are making this propaganda, Krsna consciousness movement, the “Hallowed by Thy name. My Lord Krsna, the Personality of Godhead, let Your holy name be glorified.” This is our movement. It is not a sectarian…(Lecture: Bhagavad Gita 3.27 Melbourne June 27, 1974)

Sometimes Sri Krsna descends Himself, and sometimes He sends His representative. The major religions of the world-Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and Moslem-believe in some supreme authority or personality coming down from the kingdom of God. In the Christian religion, Jesus Christ claimed to be the son of God and to be coming from the kingdom of God to reclaim conditioned souls. As followers of Bhagavad-gita, we admit this claim to be true. So basically there is no difference of opinion. In details there may be differences due to differences in culture, climate and people, but the basic principle remains the same-that is, God or His representatives come to reclaim conditioned souls.
(Raja Vidya Chapter 6 :Knowledge of Krsna’s Appearance and Activities)

Just like Lord Jesus Christ. He was so badly treated and still he was thinking, “Father, they do not know what they are doing. Please excuse.” This is suhrdah. He is praying to God This is sadhu, mahatma. Suhrdah prasanta. Not that… In India there are examples like Haridasa Thakura, Prahlada Maharaja. And the Western countries also, Lord Jesus Christ, he is saktyavesa-avatara, God’s son. And he tolerated so much. These are the examples of mahatma. Don’t misunderstand that we are preaching that mahatmas are only in India. No. By the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead there are mahatmas even amongst the birds, even amongst the beasts, even amongst the lower than animals. Because this Krsna consciousness movement is going on in different places, in different circumstances.(Srimad Bhagavatam 5.5.3 –vrndavana Oct 25, 1976)

Conversation with Father Emmanuel In 1974, near ISKCON’s center in Frankfurt am Main, West Germany, Srila Prabhupada and several of his disciples took a morning walk with father Emmanuel Jungclaussen, a Benedictine monk from Niederalteich Monastery. Noticing that Srila Prabhupada was carrying meditation beads similar to the rosary, Father Emmanuel explained that he also chanted a constant prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, be merciful unto us.” The following conversation ensued.Conversation with Cardinal Danielou “Thou Shalt Not Kill” or “Thou Shalt Not Murder”?
At a monastic retreat near Paris, in July of 1973, Srila Prabhupada talked with Cardinal Jean Danielou: “… the Bible does not simply say, `Do not kill the human being.’ It says broadly, `Thou shalt not kill.’… why do you interpret this to suit your own convenience?”
From Perfect Questions, Perfect AnswersDiscussions between Peace Corps Worker Bob Cohen and His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaJesus Christ Was a Guru – The spiritual leader of the Hare Krsna movement here recognizes Lord Jesus Christ as “the son of God, the representative of God… our guru… our spiritual master,” yet he has some sharp words for those who currently claim to be Christ’s followers…

A devotee of Krsna is friendly to everyone. Therefore it is said here that he has no enemy (nirvairah). How is this? A devotee situated in Krsna consciousness knows that only devotional service to Krsna can relieve a person from all the problems of life. He has personal experience of this, and therefore he wants to introduce this system, Krsna consciousness, into human society. There are many examples in history of devotees of the Lord who risked their lives for the spreading of God consciousness. The favorite example is Lord Jesus Christ. He was crucified by the nondevotees, but he sacrificed his life for spreading God consciousness. Of course, it would be superficial to understand that he was killed. Similarly, in India also there are many examples, such as Thakura Haridasa and Prahlada Maharaja. Why such risk? Because they wanted to spread Krsna consciousness, and it is difficult. A Krsna conscious person knows that if a man is suffering it is due to his forgetfulness of his eternal relationship with Krsna. Therefore, the highest benefit one can render to human society is relieving one’s neighbor from all material problems. In such a way, a pure devotee is engaged in the service of the Lord. Now, we can imagine how merciful Krsna is to those engaged in His service, risking everything for Him. Therefore it is certain that such persons must reach the supreme planet after leaving the body.

SHEIKS AS KRISHNA DEVOTEES

DRUZE SHEIKHS AT HOME IN INDIA

Ten years after meeting Hare Krishna devotees in Israel, Druze leaders visit the land of their spiritual heritage.

by Dhira Govinda Dasa

Besides Lord Krishna, I have no one.
Lord Krishna, You are always my shelter.
Even by offering me all the world’s treasures,
no one could win my heart, because it is dedicated to You.
We are your devotees, and from Your worship we won’t deviate,
even if our bones are broken with sticks.
Please forgive Your servants the offenses we commit to You.
Your mercy is bewildering to many people.
We are Yours forever. Our souls are dedicated to You.
We can lay down our lives for the service of Krishna.
Please glance at us with Your sidelong glances and
allow us to enter into Your kingdom.

Signed,
The most unworthy and weak among the devotees,
and a beggar in front of God

You might expect that these lines were written by a renowned poet of the Vaishnava tradition, such as Jayadeva Gosvami or Narottama Dasa Thakura. But, no, the author is Sheikh Fuad Aburukun, and the poem was composed in Arabic on the occasion of a welcome ceremony offered by the ISKCON Juhu Beach temple in Mumbai for a contingent of more than a dozen Druze sheikhs from Israel.

In its March/April 1997 issue, Back to Godhead printed an article describing the relationship between the Druze and the Hare Krishnas, forged during the late 1980s and early 1990s, when a team of devotees profusely distributed Srila Prabhupada’s books in the Druze villages. All sectors of Druze society welcomed the devotees and Vedic knowledge with eagerness. Dr. Salman Falach, Druze minister of education in Israel, bought full sets of books for all Druze schools and libraries and, echoing the thoughts of many Druze, stated, “I think that after reading these books I will discover that our religion is coming from them.”

Since the Druze are perceived by the world as an Arabic sect, their receptivity to Vaishnava literature and culture may seem surprising. A study of Druze history, however, reveals that their roots are firmly planted in India. For example, a major tenet of Druze faith is the transmigration of the soul. Also, their histories are cyclical, dating back hundreds of millions of years, with descriptions of incarnations of God in human form appearing at regular intervals. This corresponds to Vedic literature and contrasts the Mideast religious traditions. The term Druze itself is a misnomer, coined by the Muslims, similar to the Muslim invention of the designation Hindu. Druze refer to themselves as muwahidoon, “the one, eternal religion,” and believe there are muwahidoon, in various external manifestations, throughout the world.

Kamal Jumbalat, a modern Druze political, intellectual, and spiritual leader assassinated in Lebanon, had profound admiration for Indian culture. He visited India several times and was a strict vegetarian. His writings extol Krishna, the Bhagavad-gita, and the Ramayana. Jumbalat’s picture hangs on the walls of most Druze homes.

Devotees met several times with Sheikh Tarif Amin, who was the worldwide spiritual leader for the Druze people. Sheikh Amin was grateful that Druze were placing sets of Srila Prabhupada’s books in their homes. He said that he wanted the Druze and the Hare Krishna movement to work together as one race. Considering that the Druze are known for being insulated and secretive, this is a special declaration.

From studying Srila Prabhupada’s books for more than a decade and associating with devotees, Druze religious leaders increasingly developed interest in Krishna consciousness and the similarities between Vaishnavism and muwahidoon beliefs and practices. Several Druze sheikhs were inspired to visit Vaishnava holy places in March and April of 2001.

Mayapur Reception

On March 9, just after mangala-arati in the temple of ISKCON Mayapur, the Druze were warmly welcomed with a magnificent ceremony. The delegation of sheikhs entered the festive scene singing songs about Krishna and His wonderful followers.

Then, outside the temple, Jayapataka Swami, standing with the sheikhs on a raised platform constructed for the occasion, spoke to the devotees about the history and culture of the visitors. Sheikh Hussein Aburukun then addressed the crowd, reiterating the words of the late Sheikh Amin, proclaiming that the Druze and Hare Krishnas are like one race. After each phrase his words were translated into English and Hindi, and the assembled devotees cheered. Other sheikhs also spoke, expressing their great happiness at being in that holy place with many wonderful people of God.

One sheikh announced, “We are very eager to visit the Ganges, because we have heard that simply by touching the water to our heads we will be freed of all sins.”

While in Mayapur the sheikhs did go to the Ganges River, as well as other sacred sites, such as the nearby home of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura. At the ISKCON temple of Sri Sri Radha-Madhava, with a backdrop of roaring kirtana, they worshipfully offered incense to all the deities.

While accepting maha-prasadam, a sheikh exclaimed, “We think that all our problems have now been solved simply by accepting this sanctified food from your hands.”

Moved by the devotion of the Vaishnavas, a sheikh said, “What has most impressed us is the humility of the devotees. They are all so humble and gentle. We have a lot to learn from them.”

Several sheikhs told the devotees that the atmosphere of Sridham Mayapur had changed their hearts and greatly intensified the mood in which they approach God.

During a speech later in their visit, Sheikh Hussein said, “Since we stepped on the holy land of Mayapur, we felt that we were coming home.”

With the King in Puri

Gajapati Maharaja, the king of Orissa, hosted the Druze in Jagannatha Puri on March 11. He asked the sheikhs many questions. Sheikh Hussein explained that the Druze accept that the universe is at least 340 million years old, and that the scriptures from India are remarkably close in many details to the muwahidoon philosophical, historical, and cosmological understanding.

“We know that many incarnations of God have appeared in India,” he said, “and this has inspired us to come here. . . . In our culture the grandmother says to the children, ‘I hope I may enter the gate of heaven.’ To fulfill the desires of our ancestors, we have come to India to find the gate to heaven. . . . All true religious processes give some knowledge of God, but some give more, according to the capacity of the persons receiving the knowledge.”

To close the meeting, Gajapati Maharaja spoke about the soul’s entanglement in the material world and it’s quest for enlightenment through self-realization and God-realization.

Feeling Krishna’s Presence

On March 15 the Druze were greeted at ISKCON’s Krishna-Balaram Mandir in Vrindavana.

A leading sheikh spoke: “We have never felt God’s presence as much as we do today. We bless you all with the names of Hare Krishna, Hare Rama. We consider ourselves part of this Hare Krishna religion, although there is some difference in the rituals. The leaders and spiritual seekers of our group, such as Kamal Jumbalat, also came to India for knowledge. Formerly we were getting this knowledge via reading the books [of Srila Prabhupada], and now we get more realization by meeting the devotees. And so we have embassies of Hare Krishna in our village, because of the efforts of Vijnana Dasa, Yamunacarya Dasa, and Suddha Sattva Dasa [devotees who run a center in the Druze village of Osafia, Israel]. . . .

“We hope that by our prayers there will be peace between the many races of the world. It is predicted in our holy books that the final teachings of our religion will come from India. It is difficult to express in words our immense appreciation for you. I invite you all to come to our village. I am getting much inspiration from my Godbrothers here, and I would like to finish now by telling everyone Hare Krishna, Hare Rama.”

Several ISKCON leaders greeted the sheikhs with warm salutations full of respect. A few led the assembly in chanting Hare Krishna, and the Druze raised their hands in feelings of joy and happily chanted.

When Vedavyasapriya Swami mentioned that in Mayapur the Druze had sung a song about Krishna, the devotees were eager to hear it, and the Druze obliged by singing their Hare Krishna song.

In Vrindavana the sheikhs visited holy sites, such as Lord Krishna’s birthplace. One day at the ISKCON temple the sheikhs met with newspaper and television reporters. Although the first questions were political, Sheikh Hussein deftly sidestepped the politics, and the questions then turned spiritual. Later, the sheikh revealed that while speaking to the reporters, the other sheikhs were nudging him and imploring him not to reveal secrets of the Druze scriptures. Sheikh Hussein told them that he wasn’t disclosing the Druze scriptures, but rather he was speaking on the Vedic scriptures, and it just so happens that the two are the same.

On March 16 the Druze visited Govardhana Hill. At the Govardhana Palace temple they were received by Jayadvaita Swami and Keshava Bharati Dasa. A philosophical discussion ensued, with the sheikhs posing profound questions, such as “What is the significance of Lord Krishna’s pastimes?” “How can we enter those pastimes?” and “If God is Brahman, why do you worship His form?”

At Kusum Sarovara the conversation continued, with the Druze inquiring about the origin and significance of the Sanskrit language and the process of creation. They were very satisfied hearing from Jayadvaita Swami about the detailed, scientific description of the creation provided in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, and about how material creation begins with a glance from the Lord, which conforms to the depiction in Druze literature.

By March 19 the Druze contingent reached Mumbai. There the sheikhs explained that the primary reason that worship of the form of God was relinquished in Druze tradition was to avoid persecution from the Muslim majority in countries where Druze resided. They said that upon seeing the deity worship performed in ISKCON temples, they realized that these rituals were very similar to those described in muwahidoon scripture, but circumstantially abandoned over time. During our original contact with the Druze more than a decade earlier, we learned that many of their current habits, such as meat-eating and coffee-drinking, were adopted to conform with Muslim practices but are not part of the authentic culture of the muwahidoon.

While touring the ISKCON Juhu Beach temple, the Druze met a member of the Hinduja family, who invited them to his home the next morning. They spoke at length the next day with Mr. Hinduja, who befriended and was intrigued by his special guests. They chanted the Hare Krishna maha-mantra together, and Mr. Hinduja suggested they build Krishna temples in Druze villages in Israel. Sheikh Hussein said that he could provide the land for such a project, and their host enthusiastically proposed that they proceed to make the idea a reality.

Druze ISKCON Members

Two of the Hare Krishna devotees who accompanied, served, and hosted the Druze during their visit to India were Tushti Mohana Krishna Dasa and Gopa Kumara Dasa, both native Druze and Arabic speakers. There was some concern that the Druze leaders would be upset that these young members of their community had completely given their lives to the practice of Krishna consciousness. To the contrary, the sheikhs were pleased that these young men had dedicated themselves to a spiritual process the sheikhs considered genuine and consistent with the muwahidoon heritage. Being from a land where external differences in religious practice have caused and continue to create divisive conflict, the sheikhs could especially appreciate the essential, unifying principles common to the muwahidoon and the Krishna bhaktas, and to all genuine spiritual practitioners.

These descriptions of the sheikhs’ visit to India were sent as letters to me by several devotees who were with the Druze during their pilgrimages. These devotees include Vijnana Dasa, Phalguna Dasa, Tushti Mohana Dasa, and Gopa Kumara Dasa. For me, as a member of the sankirtana team that initially contacted the Druze in the Middle East in 1988, it was a tremendous joy to receive these reports. They were confirmation that the books distributed by the devotees, and studied voraciously by the Druze people, were like seeds that fructified a decade later in the form of this journey to the East, which the sheikhs considered a journey to the homeland of their patriarchs.

Dhira Govinda Dasa, who holds a doctorate degree in social work, is the director of ISKCON’s Office of Child Protection, based in Alachua, Florida. The new updated edition of Dhira Govinda Dasa’s book, Krishna, Israel, and the Druze will soon be available from the Krishna.com Store.

Question:  Koran Teaches that God Does Not Incarnate…

Thank you for your loving kindness and tender mercies.
The Koran teaches that God does not incarnate as man and in the 2nd Sura, it says “This scripture is infallible”.How do I reckon this to what you teach? The Koran teaches that it is idolatry to follow the teaching of worshipping the idea of God incarnate. If the Gita, New Testament and the Koran are all professing to be the truth, how can one judge for himself?Gregory

Answer:  The Koran’s Final Conclusion Is Its Most Powerful Conclusion…

The Koran certainly establishes impersonalism, i.e. that God cannot appear as a person with a form, but at the end it refutes that impersonalism and establishes the personal God.
The Koran accepts the fact that ultimately there is only one God. He is full of opulence, and His bodily complexion is blackish. According to the Koran, the Lord has a supreme, blissful, transcendental body. He is the Absolute Truth, the all-pervading, omniscient and eternal being. He is the origin of everything. Creation, maintenance and dissolution come from Him. He is the original shelter of all gross and subtle cosmic manifestations. The Lord is the Supreme Truth, worshipable by everyone. He is the cause of all causes. By engaging in His devotional service, the living entity is relieved from material existence. No conditioned soul can get out of material bondage without serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Love at His lotus feet is the ultimate goal of life. The happiness of liberation, whereby one merges into the Lord’s existence, cannot even be compared to a fragment of the transcendental bliss obtained by service unto the Lord’s lotus feet. In the Koran there are descriptions of fruitive activity, speculative knowledge, mystic power and union with the Supreme, but ultimately all this is refuted and the Lord’s personal feature established, along with His devotional service. The scholars of the Koran are not very advanced in knowledge. Although there are many methods prescribed, they do not know that the ultimate conclusion should be considered the most powerful.Sankarshan Das Adhikari (click on his name to know about him)

Allah and Krishna are the same person

There is no meaning to religion without God and since the entire religion is build upon the idea of God so lets first look into conception of God as per Islam and Sanatan-Dharma. Sumeet Chandra(10-24-00)

Hare Krishna

Assalam-u-alaikum

Kindly accept my obesiances unto your lotus feet.

I would like to answer your questions as per my own limited capacity and unlimited grace of Gaudiya acaryas and Sri Sri Radha-Krsna allows me.

We all know that religion is entirely centered upon conception of God. There is no meaning to religion without God and since the entire religion is build upon the idea of God so lets first look into conception of God as per Islam and Sanatan-Dharma.

“Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this non-dual substance brahman, paramatma, and bhagavan.”

(Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.11)

This is the Vedic conception of God. God is refered to as Absolute Truth in Vedas. This verse from Bhagavatam states that Absolute Truth is called by three different names by the transcendentalists. These three names are actually three different conceptions of the same Absolute Truth that a transcendentalists has in proportion with his spiritual realization.

>>What is Brahman?

Brahman is nothing but the impersonal spiritual effulgence which is full of dazzling light. Hence is called brahmajyoti.

Vedic literature states:

This brahmajyoti effulgence is described in detail in several mantras of the Mundaka Upanisad (2.2.10-12):

“In the spiritual realm, beyond the material covering, is the unlimited Brahman effulgence, which is free from material contamination. That effulgent white light is understood by transcendentalists to be the light of all lights. In that realm there is no need of sunshine, moonshine, fire or electricity for illumination. Indeed, whatever illumination appears in the material world is only a reflection of that supreme illumination. That Brahman is in front and in back, in the north, south, east and west, and also overhead and below. In other words, that supreme Brahman effulgence spreads throughout both the material and spiritual skies.”

Lord Krishna in Holy Gita describes this as follows-

” But those who fully worship the unmanifested, that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all-pervading, inconceivable, fixed and immovable–the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth–by controlling the various senses and being equally disposed to everyone, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve Me. ”

(Holy Gita 12.3-4)

Now lets see what Al-Quran has to say about this:

“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things. ”

(24.35)

” He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things. ” (57.3)

“No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things. “(6.103)

Last words goes like this-

wa Huwal Latiiful-Khabiir…

Latiif means fine and subtle. He is so fine that He is imperceptible to senses. Hence no vision can grasp Him. So no one can see Him. This is certainly the description of impersonal effulgence of God.

>> What is Parmatma ?

Paramatma means “the Supreme Self” or “the Supreme Soul,” (atma means “self or soul,” and parama means “transcendental, absolute or supreme”). Usually, paramatma is translated as “the Supersoul.”

What Vedas speak about it:

” Yet in this body there is another, a transcendental enjoyer who is the Lord, the supreme proprietor, who exists as the overseer and permitter, and who is known as the Supersoul. ” ( BG 13.23)

“Everywhere are His hands and legs, His eyes and faces, and He hears everything. In this way the Supersoul exists.”

” The Supersoul is the original source of all senses, yet He is without senses. He is unattached, although He is the maintainer of all living beings. He transcends the modes of nature, and at the same time He is the master of all modes of material nature.”

” The Supreme Truth exists both internally and externally, in the moving and nonmoving. He is beyond the power of the material senses to see or to know. Although far, far away, He is also near to all. ”

” Although the Supersoul appears to be divided, He is never divided. He is situated as one. Although He is the maintainer of every living entity, it is to be understood that He devours and develops all. ”

” He is the source of light in all luminous objects. He is beyond the darkness of matter and is unmanifested. He is knowledge, He is the object of knowledge, and He is the goal of knowledge. He is situated in everyone’s heart.”

(BG 13.14-18)

” I am the Self, O Gudakesa, seated in the hearts of all creatures. I am the beginning, the middle and the end of all beings. ” (BG 10.20)

>> This Self refered to the Supersoul and not the individual soul.

“Both the Supersoul [Paramatma] and the atomic soul [jivatma] are situated on the same tree of the body within the same heart of the living being, and only one who has become free from all material desires as well as lamentations can, by the grace of the Supreme, understand the glories of the soul.” (Katha Upanisad 1.2.20).

Furthermore both the Katha Upanisad and Svetasvatara Upanisad confirm this:

“Although the two birds are in the same tree, the eating bird is fully engrossed with anxiety and moroseness as the enjoyer of the fruits of the tree. But if in some way or other he turns his face to his friend who is the Lord and knows His glories–at once the suffering bird becomes free from all anxieties.”

Now lets see what Al-Quran has to say-

Allah enters into everyone’s hearts:

“Say: “If I am astray, I only stray to the loss of my own soul: but if I receive guidance, it is because of the inspiration of my Lord to me: it is He Who hears all things, and is (ever) near.” (34.50)

“It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. ” (50.16)

” And He is with you wheresoever ye may be. And Allah sees well all that ye do. “(57.4)

” But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,”(56.85)

“…..He has full knowledge of the secrets of (all) hearts. “(57.6)

“………… and know that Allah cometh in between a man and his heart,……”(8.24)

>> What is Bhagavan ?

The word Bhagavan means “the person who possesses all the divine attributes or opulences (bhaga),” all wealth, all power, all fame, all beauty, all knowledge, and all renunciation to an infinite degree.

Bhagavan refers to the Personality of Godhead. According to Vedic philosophy and Al-Quran as we have seen, that God is impersonal absolute light or all-pervasive Supersoul. But both of them don’t end the description here. They continue like this:

Al-Quran:

Remember I quoted a verse 24.35 where it was written Allah is light but then it was immediately said that Allah possesses light.

Let me reproduce the relevant portion of the verse-

First part says:

Allaahu Nuurus….

Allah is light

Then it continues

Masalu Nuurihii……

Nuurihii means “His light”.

So Allah is not only light but also possesses light.

Allah has personal relationships:

He guides- (24.35)&(7.155) He punishes- (7.156) & (8.52) (7.165) (8.16) He protects and takes care- (2.257)(6.102)
He teaches– (2.282) He remembers-(2.152)

Allah has personal feelings:

Allah loves-(3.159)(9.100)(9.117) Allah reciprocates with His personal devotees- Story about the messenger of God, Joseph that Allah narrated to the Holy Prophet Mohammad.(12.4-101)

Certainly all this requires senses, mind and intelligence to be displayed hence we should at least start to think that Allah is a person also.

Allah has personal desires: 10.107,2.40-41. Allah has personal memory: 2.152,58.7,20.52 Allah has personal features: 0.21,10.32,10.60,12.100,12.98,14.47,20.5, 22.40,22.60,4.147,40.12

Allah plays different personal parts: 2.257,3.98,10.109,11.107,12.66, 13.16, 20.114, 22.78, 33.52, 2.233,35.31,59.23,59.24,6.57

Allah has personal will: 5.17,19.35,85.16 Allah is the living one: 2.255,40.65,2.20,22.40 Allah has personal faculty of speech: 2.30,12.3 Allah has personal faculty of hearing: 2.224,24.21 Allah has personal faculty of sight: 2.233,34.11 Allah has ersonal identity:51.56-57 Allah has personal knowledge: 24.35,6.59 Allah is the best person[Bhagavan] 8.30,22.58

Allah has a face: 6.52,13.22,18.28,30.38,30.39,2.115,28.88,55.26-27 Allah has hands: 39.67,38.75,3.73,67.1,48.10,5.67 Allah has an IMAGE: 16.60.

” It is He Who begins (the process of) creation; then repeats it; and for Him it is most easy. To Him belongs the loftiest similitude (we can think of) in the heavens and the earth: for He is Exalted in Might, full of wisdom. “(30.27)

So according to Holy Quran Allah has a form whch is Absolute, Spiritual, infallible, most beautiful and transcendental to all kind of material conceptions, free from even a tinge of material contamination.

This is the form which possesses light. And this is the person who knows the deepest secrets of our hearts.

Although Holy Quran just gives an idea that God ultimately possesses a form but the Vedic literature just gives more details of this form giving the specific information.

Now lets see what Vedic literature has to say:

” Krishna who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes.” (Brahma Samhita 1)

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati a great devotee and spiritual master write in purport to this verse-Krishna is the exalted Supreme entity having His eternal name, eternal form, eternal attribution and eternal pastimes. The very name “Krishna” implies His love-attracting designation, expressing by His eternal nomenclature the acme of entity. His eternal beautiful heavenly blue-tinged body glowing with the intensity of ever-existing knowledge has a nude in both His hands. As His inconceivable spiritual energy is all-extending, still He maintains His all-charming medium size by His qualifying spiritual instrumentals. His all-accommodating supreme subjectivity is nicely manifested in His eternal form. The concentrated all time presence, uncovered knowledge and inebriating felicity have their beauty in Him. The mundane manifestive portion of His own Self is known as all-pervading Paramatma, Isvara (Superior Lord) or Vishnu (All-fostering). Hence it is evident that Krishna is sole Supreme Godhead. His unrivaled or unique spiritual body of super excellent charm is eternally unveiled with innumerable spiritual instrumentals (senses) and unreckonable attributes keeping their signifying location properly, adjusting at the same time by His inconceivable conciliative powers. This beautiful spiritual figure is identical with Krishna and the spiritual entity of Krishna is identical with His own figure.

” I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who is adept in playing on His flute, with blooming eyes like lotus petals with head decked with peacock’s feather, with the figure of beauty tinged with the hue of blue clouds, and His unique loveliness charming millions of Cupids. “(BS 30)

” I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, round whose neck is swinging a garland of flowers beautified with the moon-locket, whose two hands are adorned with the flute and jeweled ornaments, who always revels in pastimes of Lowe, whose graceful threefold-bending form of Syamasundara is eternally manifest. “(BS 31)

“I worship Govinda, the primeval Lords whose transcendental form is full of bliss, truth, substantiality and is thus full of the most dazzling splendor. Each of the limbs of that transcendental figure possesses in Himself, the full-fledged functions of all the organs, and eternally sees, maintains and manifests the infinite universes, both spiritual and mundane.”

(BS 32)

“I worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Govinda [Krsna], who is the original person–absolute, infallible, without beginning. Although expanded into unlimited forms, still the same original, the oldest, and the person always appearing as a fresh youth. Such eternal, blissful, all-knowing forms of the Lord are usually understood by the best Vedic scholars, but they are always manifest to pure, unalloyed devotees.” (BS 33)

” He is an undifferentiated entity as there is no distinction between potency and the possessor thereof. In His work of creation of millions of worlds, His potency remains inseparable. All the universes exist in Him and He is present in His fullness in every one of the atoms that are scattered throughout the universe, at one and the same time. Such is the primeval Lord whom I adore. “(BS 35)

“I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who is the absolute substantive principle being the ultimate entity in the form of the support of all existence whose external potency embodies the thr eefold mundane qualities, viz., sattva, rajas and tamas and diffuses the Vedic knowledge regarding the mundane world.” (BS 41)

“The Supreme Lord is the controller of all other controllers, and He is the greatest of all the diverse planetary leaders. Everyone is under His control. All entities are delegated with particular power only by the Supreme Lord; they are not supreme themselves. He is also worshipable by all demigods and is the supreme director of all directors. Therefore, He is transcendental to all kinds of material leaders and controllers and is worshipable by all. There is no one greater than Him, and He is the supreme cause of all causes.”

“He does not possess bodily form like that of an ordinary living entity. There is no difference between His body and His soul. He is absolute. All His senses are transcendental. Any one of His senses can perform the action of any other sense. Therefore, no one is greater than Him or equal to Him. His potencies are multifarious, and thus His deeds are automatically performed as a natural sequence.” (Svetasvatara Upanisad 6.7-8)

Again in the svetasvatra Upanisad

“In the material world Brahma, the primeval living entity within the universe, is understood to be the supreme amongst the demigods, human beings and lower animals. But beyond Brahma there is the Transcendence who has no material form and is free from all material contaminations. Anyone who can know Him also becomes transcendental, but those who do not know Him suffer the miseries of the material world.”

“I know that Supreme Personality of Godhead who is transcendental to all material conceptions of darkness. Only he who knows Him can transcend the bonds of birth and death. There is no way for liberation other than this knowledge of that Supreme Person.

“There is no truth superior to that Supreme Person because He is the supermost. He is smaller than the smallest, and He is greater than the greatest. He is situated as a silent tree, and He illumines the transcendental sky, and as a tree spreads its roots, He spreads His extensive energies.” Svetasvatara Upanisad(3.8-9)

“I offer my respectful obeisances to Sri Krishna, whose form is eternal and full of knowledge and bliss, who is the rescuer from distress, who is understood by Vedanta, who is the supreme spiritual master, and who is the witness in everyone’s heart.”(Gopal Tapani Upanisad 1.1)

” One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything, as He who is the oldest, who is the controller, who is smaller than the smallest, who is the maintainer of everything, who is beyond all material conception, who is inconceivable, and who is always a person. He is luminous like the sun and, being transcendental, is beyond this material nature. “(BG 8.9)

Visnu Purana(1.9.69):

“Whoever comes before You, be he a demigod, is created by You, O Supreme Personality of Godhead.”

” Although fixed in His abode, the Personality of Godhead is swifter than the mind and can overcome all others running. The powerful demigods cannot approach Him. Although in one place, He controls those who supply the air and rain. He surpasses all in excellence.” (Isopanisad 4)

“The Supreme Lord walks and does not walk. He is far away, but He is very near as well. He is within everything, and yet He is outside of everything.”(Isopanisad 5)

“Such a person must factually know the greatest of all, the Personality of Godhead, who is unembodied, omniscient, beyond reproach, without veins, pure and uncontaminated, the self-sufficient philosopher who has been fulfilling everyone’s desire since time immemorial. ”

(Isopanisad 8)

Srila Prabhupada writes in His purport to the above verse-

Here is a description of the transcendental and eternal form of the Absolute Personality of Godhead. The Supreme Lord is not formless. He has His own transcendental form, which is not at all similar to the forms of the mundane world. The forms of the living entities in this world are embodied in material nature, and they work like any material machine. The anatomy of a material body must have a mechanical construction with veins and so forth, but the transcendental body of the Supreme Lord has nothing like veins. It is clearly stated here that He is un-embodied, which means that there is no difference between His body and His soul. Nor is He forced to accept a body according to the laws of nature, as we are. In materially conditioned life, the soul is different from the gross embodiment and subtle mind. For the Supreme Lord, however, there is never any such difference between Him and His body and mind. He is the Complete Whole, and His mind, body and He Himself are all one and the same.

These are the few verses from the Vedic literature that describes the Transcendental form of Person of God.

So we see that Al-quran tells that Allah is light and Vedic literature confirms this as well. Then we see that Al-Quran says Allah possesses light. Similarly Vedic scripture says:

“And I am the basis of the impersonal Brahman, which is the constitutional position of ultimate happiness, and which is immortal, imperishable and eternal. ”

(BG 14.27)

Here Lord Krishna says that the all pervading dazzling impersonal spiritual effulgence is nothing but glow of Transcendental Personality. So Allah or Krishna’s Transcendental Personality’s glow constitutes impersonal Brahman.

This is further verified in Brahma Samhita:

” I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, whose effulgence is the source of the nondifferentiated Brahman mentioned in the Upanisads, being differentiated from the infinity of glories of the mundane universe appears as the indivisible, infinite, limitless, truth.”(Text 40)

” O my Lord, sustainer of all that lives, Your real face is covered by Your dazzling effulgence. Kindly remove that covering and exhibit Yourself to Your pure devotee. ”

(Isopanisad 15)

In the prayers of Kunti in the Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.8.18) it is said that the Lord is covered by the curtain of yoga-maya and thus ordinary people cannot understand Him. Kunti prays: “O my Lord, You are the maintainer of the entire universe, and devotional service to You is the highest religious principle. Therefore, I pray that You will also maintain me. Your transcendental form is covered by the yoga-maya. The brahmajyoti is the covering of the internal potency. May You kindly remove this glowing effulgence that impedes my seeing Your sac-cid-ananda-vigraha, Your eternal form of bliss and knowledge.”

As Allah’s Nur is the light of all luminaries similarly it has been stated by

Vedic literature that Krishna’s effulgence is light of all lights as verified in the verses from upanisads and Gita stated above.

So now we can safely conclude that God is a Person, Supreme Person possesing transcendental body which is knowledge absolute, never subjected to decay, always youthful. This body is absolute as there is no difference between the mind, body and spirit. Everything in connection with Him is Absolute spirit.

Now lets consider Parmatma. Although Al-Quran states that this very same transcendental form is present in everyone’s heart as the Supersoul Vedic literature talks about this Supersoul as the plenary expansion of the Transcendental personality of Supreme which dwells in all living entities.

In the Narada-pancaratra this is confirmed in this way:

“By concentrating one’s attention on the transcendental form of Krsna, who is all-pervading and beyond time and space, one becomes absorbed in thinking of Krsna and then attains the happy state of transcendental association with Him.”

Krsna consciousness is the highest stage of trance in yoga practice. This very understanding that Krsna is present as Paramatma in everyone’s heart makes the yogi faultless. The Vedas confirm this inconceivable potency of the Lord as follows:

“Visnu is one, and yet He is certainly all-pervading. By His inconceivable potency, in spite of His one form, He is present everywhere. As the sun, He appears in many places at once.”

So although being one without a second the very same transcendental personality appears in the innumerable hearts as many just as one sun appears in many places at once. He is able to do this by dint of His inconcievable potency and since His personality is beyond space and time He can expand Himself into another form and yet remain the same person manifested differently in various forms:

Although Al-Quran covers information regarding God but Vedas goes in Detail explaining that very same personality of Go has expanded Himself into infinite number of forms-

“The one Supreme Personality of Godhead is eternally engaged in many, many transcendental forms in relationships with His unalloyed devotees.”

(Puruso-bodhini upanisad)

“The light of one candle being communicated to other candles, although it burns separately in them, is the same in its quality. I adore the primeval Lord Govinda who exhibits Himself equally in the same mobile manner in His various manifestations.”(Brahma Samhita text 46)

One must understand that Personality of Supreme who is known as Krishna, Allah…

is beyond space and time, uncontaminated, self-effulgent and absolute. When He exhibits Himself in innumerable forms then it is not that He has divided His one form into infinite pieces but each and every form is that same absolute truth Himself. They are all one and same. The example of vaidurya stone is given in this regards. This stone remains the same yet changes it’s color. Hence Personality of God remains the same yet manifests infinitely different appearnces. This It is not that one form is a seperate person than other; they are all one and the same Supreme Personality just differently manifested. For us due to our conditioned existence it is very difficult to understand that how can God who is one without a second remain same absolute while simultaneously exhibit infinte number of forms. The answer is that He has inconcievable transcendental energy through which He expands Himself[His person] into different forms yet remain the same. Note He has expanded Himself into innumerable forms and not divided Himself into innumerable forms. Therefore He is God Himself in any of His form. Logically thinking since Supreme is an unlimited Person therefore it is sensible to accept that He possesses infinite number of forms. There is no limit to Him in any respect. Just as He has inifinite number of names He possesses infinite forms. Supreme Lord Krishna states this as follows:

“Lord Krishna says: There are others, who are purified and cultured souls, who by understanding my different forms as myself, as one personality in various forms and features, worship me according to their spiritual understanding and convictions following the rules of worship as given in the Vedas.”

But originally the form of God is that which resembles Lord Krishna transcendental triple bending form. These forms of one and same Supreme Lord Krishna are identical with person of Lord Rama, Lord Vishnu. Not Lord Shiva or Lord Brahma. What is the state of Lord Brahma in comparison to Lord Krishna is spoken by Lord Brahma Himself:

http://www.bhagavadgita.org/Incarnations/incarnation-61.html

So now you must be convinced that Al-Quran when refers to Allah is only refering to the person Krishna Himself. Certainly there cannot be two different person with same description and paraphernalia.

Further more look at another amazing similarity—

“(We take our)Color from Allah. Who is better than Allah at coloring?”(2.138)

Sibgat the root meaning of this word is color. Allah possesses beautiful dark color.

Actually Allah being the source of everything it is no wonder that some color of this material world should resemble His.

Although His color is not material which I shall explain in a moment. From the above verse if Arabs analogously resembles the color of God then we can safely conclude that color of God is a beautiful dark complexion. But God has been described as full of dazzling effulgence and no dark color in this world is dazzling. This seems contradictory. Actually there is no contradiction if we realize that this dark color of Allah is spiritual but not material. Being a spiritual color it is transcendental to perception and mind and can afford to throw out flashing effulgence. Similarly Krishna is famous as syamsundara or one whose complexion is darkish but at the same time is full of most dazzling splendor. See this verse:

” I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who is Syamasundara, Krishna Himself with inconceivable innumerable attributes, whom the pure devotees see in their heart of hearts with the eye of devotion tinged with the salve of love.” (Brahma Samhita 38)

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta saraswati writesin the purport to this verse-

The Syamasundara form of Krishna is His inconceivable simultaneous personal and impersonal self-contradictory form. True devotees see the form in their purified hearts under the influence of devotional trance. The form Syama is not the blue color visible in the mundane world but is the transcendental variegated color affording eternal bliss, and is not visible to the mortal eye. On a consideration of the trance of Vyasadeva as in the sloka, bhakti-yogena manasi etc., it will be clear that the form of Sri Krishna is the full Personality of Godhead and can only be visible in the heart of a true devotee, which is the only true seat in the state of trance under the influence of devotion. When Krishna manifested Himself in Vraja, both the devotees and non- devotees saw Him with this very eye; but only the devotees cherished Him, eternally present in Vraja, as the priceless jewel of their heart. Nowadays also the devotees see Him in Vraja in their hearts, saturated with devotion although they do not see Him with their eyes. The eye of devotion is nothing but the eye of the pure unalloyed spiritual self of the Jiva. The form of Krishna is visible to that eye in proportion to its purification by the practice of devotion. When the devotion of the neophyte reaches the stage of bhava-bhakti the pure eye of that devotee is tinged with the salve of love by the grace of Krishna, which enables him to see Krishna face to face. The phrase “in their hearts” means Krishna is visible in proportion as their hearts are purified by the practice of devotion. The sum and substance of this sloka is that the form of Krishna, who is Syamasundara, Natavara (Best Dancer), Muralidhara (Holder of the Flutes) and Tribhanga (Triple-bending), is not a mental concoction but is transcendental, and is visible with the eye of the soul of the devotee under trance.

Hence the Brahman just being the transcendental effulgence of spiritual body of Lord represents Absolute Truth partially. Parmatma being plenary expansion of the very spiritual absolute form of Lord is a partial representation of Supreme Personality situated in everyone’s heart. Highest conception therefore of Absolute truth is Supreme Person who contains the infinite formless magnitude in His form as His own spiritual energy and expands Himself as Superself in everyone. So it is the Personality of Godhead who makes Himself partially represented by all pervading effulgence being rays of His spiritual body and hence nondifferent from His very person just like Sun rays being emanation from sun are nondifferent from the sun planet itself. Then this same person makes Himself partially present in everyone’s heart as the supersoul. So it is the Bhagavan who is both origin of brahman and Parmatma who is to be worhsipped. One should not think here that Absolute truth is has equally divided itself in the form of Brahman, parmatma and bhagavan. But rather Absolute truth is only Bhagavan Himself. Parmatma on virtue of being partial representation of that Absolute truth Bhagavan is partial representation of Absolute truth and similarly the dazzling effulgence being a spiritual energy of Absolute truth is a partial representation of it only. Only Bhagavan who is Absolute Truth itself is the complete perfection and complete manifestation of Absolute Truth possessing superexcellently beautiful form. Since this form is unrivaled and incomparable and other than whom no truth exists is called Allah due to this reason. Because this very form of the Supreme Person is full in all opulences unto infinite degree it is called Krishna meaning the All-attractive one. Vedas further argue that anyname to belong to Supreme Lord must be indicated by the word Krishna otheriwse it doesn’t belongs to the absolute truth. The reason is that since the word krishna means all-attractive one and any name of God irrespective of the language, culture etc.. always attracts in one or the other way. The basic nature of each and every name of God is that it attracts one or in other word that it is indicated by krishna.

Bhagavan is thus the personal God aspired to and worshiped by the devotees of monotheistic religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and Hinduism.

SO MY DEAR BROTHER MUHAMMAD I HUMBLY REQUEST AT YOUR LOTUS FEET THAT YOU AT LEAST START TO THINK OF THE SIMILARITY IN THE PERSON OF ALLAH AND KRISHNA AS DESCRIBED IN AL-QURAN AND VEDIC LITERATURE YOUR DOUBTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY MELT AWAY AND YOU WOULD KNOW THE CORRECT WAY INSHALLAH!!!!!

Towards the end I beg for mercy and forgiveness if I have knowingly or unknowingly hurt anyone’s sentiments. I being a servant of all servants of Krishna accept all religions that professes love unto Supreme as the only way for perfect liberation bonafide.

All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga

Recorded on April 19, 1973, In Cheviot Hills Park, Los Angeles
[From “” by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhuapda]

Darwinism Extinct

Srila Prabhupada. This material world is a composition of three qualities — sattva, rajas and tamas (goodness, passion and ignorance) — which are working everywhere. These three qualities are present in various proportions in all species of life. For example, some trees produce nice fruit, while others are simply meant for fuel. This is due to the association of particular qualities of nature. Among animals also, these three qualities are present. The cow is in the quality of goodness, the lion in passion, and the monkey in ignorance. According to Darwin, Darwin’s father is a monkey. [Laughter.] He has theorized foolishly.

Dr. Singh. Darwin has said that some species become extinct in the struggle for survival. Those which are capable of surviving will survive, but those which are not will become extinct. So he says survival and extinction go side by side.

Srila Prabhupada. Nothing is extinct. The monkey is not extinct. Darwin’s immediate forefather, the monkey, is still existing.

Karandhara. Darwin said there must be a natural selection. But selection means choice. So who is choosing?

Srila Prabhupada. That must be a person. Who is allowing someone to survive and someone to be killed? There must be some authority with discretion to give such an order. That is our first proposition. Who that authority is, is explained in Bhagavad-gita. Krsna says, mayadhyaksena prakrtih: “Nature is working under My supervision.” (B.G 9.10)

Dr. Singh. Darwin also says that the different species were not created simultaneously, but evolved gradually.

Srila Prabhupada. Then what is his explanation for how the process of evolution began?

Karandhara. Modern proponents of Darwinism say that the first living organism was created chemically.

Srila Prabhupada. And I say to them, “If life originated from chemicals, and if your science is so advanced, then why can’t you create life biochemically in your laboratories?”

In the Future

Karandhara. They say they will create life in the future.

Srila Prabhupada. What future? When this crucial point is raised, they reply, “We shall do it in the future.” Why in the future? That is nonsense. “Trust no future, however pleasant.” If they are so advanced, they must demonstrate now how life can be created from chemicals. Otherwise what is the meaning of their advancement? They are talking nonsense.

Karandhara. They say that they are right on the verge of creating life.

Srila Prabhupada. That’s only a different way of saying the same thing: “In the future.” The scientists must admit that they still do not know the origin of life. Their claim that they will soon prove a chemical origin of life is something like paying someone with a postdated check. Suppose I give you a postdated check for ten thousand dollars but I actually have no money. What is the value of that check? Scientists are claiming that their science is wonderful, but when a practical example is wanted, they say they will provide it in the future. Suppose I say that I possess millions of dollars, and when you ask me for some money I say, “Yes, I will now give you a big postdated check. Is that all right?” If you are intelligent, you will reply, “At present give me at least five dollars in cash so I can see something tangible.” Similarly, the scientists cannot produce even a single blade of grass in their laboratories, yet they are claiming that life is produced from chemicals. What is this nonsense? Is no one questioning this?

Karandhara. They say that life is produced by chemical laws.

Srila Prabhupada. As soon as there is a law, we must take into consideration that someone made the law. Despite all their so-called advancement, the scientists in their laboratories cannot produce even a blade of grass. What kind of scientists are they?

Dr. Singh. They say that in the ultimate analysis, everything came from matter. Living matter came from nonliving matter.

Srila Prabhupada. Then where is this living matter coming from now? Do the scientists say that life came from matter in the past but does not at the present? Where is the ant coming from now — from the dirt?

The Missing Link

Dr. Singh. In fact, there are several theories explaining how life originated from matter, how living matter came from the nonliving.

Srila Prabhupada. [casting Dr. Singh in the role of a materialistic scientist]. All right, scientist, why is life not coming from matter now? You rascal. Why isn’t life coming from matter now? Actually such scientists are rascals. They childishly say that life came from matter, although they are not at all able to prove it. Our Krsna consciousness movement should expose all these rascals. They are only bluffing. Why don’t they create life immediately? In the past, they say, life arose from matter; and they say that this will happen again in the future. They even say that they will create life from matter. What kind of theory is this? They have already commented that life began from matter. This refers to the past — “began.” Then why do they now speak of the future? Is it not contradictory? They are expecting the past to occur in the future. This is childish nonsense.

Karandhara. They say that life arose from matter in the past and that they will create life this way in the future.

Srila Prabhupada. What is this nonsense? If they cannot prove that life arises from matter in the present, how do they know life arose this way in the past?

Dr. Singh. They are assuming…

Srila Prabhupada. Everyone can assume, but this is not science. Everyone can assume something. You can assume something, I can assume something. But there must be proof. We can prove that life arises from life. For example, a father begets a child. The father is living, and the child is living. But where is their proof that a father can be a dead stone? Where is their proof? We can easily prove that life begins from life. And the original life is Krsna. That also can be proven. But what evidence exists that a child is born of stone? They cannot actually prove that life comes from matter. They are leaving that aside for the future. [Laughter.]

Karandhara. The scientists say that they can now formulate acids, amino acids, that are almost like one-celled living organisms. They say that because these acids so closely resemble living beings, there must be just one missing link needed before they can create life.

Srila Prabhupada. Nonsense! Missing link. I’ll challenge them to their face! [Laughter.] They are missing this challenge. The missing link is this challenge to their face.

Nobel Prize for an Ass

Dr. Singh. Some scientists hope that in the future they will be able to make babies in test tubes.

Srila Prabhupada. Test tubes?

Dr. Singh. Yes, they intend to combine male and female elements in biological laboratories.

Srila Prabhupada. If they begin with living entities, what is the purpose of the test tube? It is only a place for combination, but so is the womb. Where is the credit for the scientists if this is already being done in nature’s test tube?

Karandhara. It is already being done by nature, but when some scientist does it, people will give him the Nobel Prize.

Srila Prabhupada. Yes, that is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam: sva-vid-varahostra-kharaih samstutah purusah pasuh.Srimad-Bhagavatam, one of the eighteen Puranas, is generally known as “the spotless Purana.” It was written down five thousand years ago by Srila Vyasadeva, who specifically intended it for the people of the present dark age of hypocrisy and quarrel. It is the original commentary on the Vedanta-sutra (by the same author) and is the cream of all Vedic literatures. Here Srila Prabhupada quotes a verse from the Second Canto of the Bhagavatam (2.3.19). In Srila Prabhupada’s English rendering of the Bhagavatam, this verse appears as follows:

sva-vid-varahostra-kharaih
samstutah purusah pasuh
na yat-karna-pathopeto
jatu nama gadagrajah

TRANSLATION: Men who are like dogs, hogs, camels and asses praise those men who never listen to the transcendental pastimes of Lord Sri Krsna, the deliverer from evils.

PURPORT: The general mass of people, unless they are trained systematically for a higher standard of life in spiritual values, are no better than animals, and in this verse they have particularly been put on the level of dogs, hogs, camels and asses. Modern university education practically prepares one to acquire a doggish mentality with which to accept the service of a greater master. After finishing a so-called education, the so-called educated persons move like dogs from door to door with applications for some service, and mostly they are driven away, informed of no vacancy. As dogs are negligible animals and serve the master faithfully for bits of bread, a man serves a master faithfully without sufficient rewards.

Persons who have no discrimination in the matter of foodstuff and who eat all sorts of rubbish are compared to hogs. Hogs are very much attached to eating stools. So stool is a kind of foodstuff for a particular type of animal. And even stones are eatables for a particular type of animal or bird. But the human being is not meant for eating everything and anything; he is meant to eat grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, sugar, etc. Animal food is not meant for the human being. For chewing solid food, the human being has a particular type of teeth meant for cutting fruits and vegetables. The human being is endowed with two canine teeth as a concession for persons who will eat animal food at any cost. It is known to everyone that one man’s food is another man’s poison. Human beings are expected to accept the remnants of food offered to Lord Sri Krsna, and the Lord accepts foodstuff from the categories of leaves, flowers, fruits, etc. (B.G. 9.26). As prescribed by Vedic scriptures, no animal food is offered to the Lord. Therefore, a human being is meant to eat a particular type of food. He should not imitate the animals to derive so-called vitamin values. Therefore, a person who has no discrimination in regard to eating is compared to a hog.

The camel is a kind of animal that takes pleasure in eating thorns. A person who wants to enjoy family life or the worldly life of so-called enjoyment is compared to the camel. Materialistic life is full of thorns, and so one should live only by the prescribed method of Vedic regulations just to make the best use of a bad bargain. Life in the material world is maintained by sucking one’s own blood. The central point of attraction for material enjoyment is sex life. To enjoy sex life is to suck one’s own blo od, and there is not much more to be explained in this connection. The camel also sucks its own blood while chewing thorny twigs. The thorns the camel eats cut the tongue of the camel, and so blood begins to flow within the camel’s mouth. The thorns, mixed with fresh blood, create a taste for the foolish camel, and so he enjoys the thorn-eating business with false pleasure. Similarly, the great business magnates, industrialists who work very hard to earn money by different ways and questionable means, eat the thorny results of their actions mixed with their own blood. Therefore the Bhagavatam has situated these diseased fellows along with the camels.

The ass is an animal who is celebrated as the greatest fool, even among the animals. The ass works very hard and carries burdens of the maximum weight without making profit for itself. The ass is generally engaged by the washerman, whose social position is not very respectable. And the special qualification of the ass is that it is very much accustomed to being kicked by the opposite sex. When the ass begs for sexual intercourse, he is kicked by the fair sex, yet he still follows the female for such sexual pleasure. A henpecked man is compared, therefore, to the ass. The general mass of people work very hard, especially in the age of Kali. In this age the human being is actually engaged in the work of an ass, carrying heavy burdens and driving thela and rickshaws. The so-called advancement of human civilization has engaged a human being in the work of an ass. The laborers in great factories and workshops are also engaged in such burdensome work, and after working hard during the day, the poor laborer has to be again kicked by the fair sex, not only for sex enjoyment but also for so many household affairs.

So Srimad-Bhagavatam’s categorization of the common man without any spiritual enlightenment into the society of dogs, hogs, camels and asses is not at all an exaggeration. The leaders of such ignorant masses of people may feel very proud of being adored by such a number of dogs and hogs, but that is not very flattering. The Bhagavatam openly declares that although a person may be a great leader of such dogs and hogs disguised as men, if he has no taste for being enlightened in the science of Krsna, such a leader is also an animal and nothing more. He may be designated as a powerful, strong animal, or a big animal, but in the estimation of Srimad-Bhagavatam he is never given a place in the category of man, on account of his atheistic temperament. Or, in other words, such godless leaders of dogs and hoglike men are bigger animals with the qualities of animals in greater proportion[4] This verse indicates that those who praise men who are like animals are no better than dogs, hogs, camels and asses. Sva means “dog,” vid-varaha means “stool-eating hog,” ustra means “camel,” and khara means “ass.” If the Nobel Prize is given to a scientist who is a rascal, the men on the committee who give him that prize are no better than dogs, hogs, camels and asses. We don’t accept them as human beings. One animal is praised by another animal. Where is the credit in that? If the men on the committee are no better than animals, anyone who receives the Nobel Prize in science is fool number one, because animals are praising him, not human beings.

Dr. Singh. For some scientists, the Nobel Prize is the ultimate.

Srila Prabhupada. They are rascals. They are speaking nonsense, and because they are juggling words, others are being misled.

Brahmananda Swami. Nobel is the person who invented dynamite.

Srila Prabhupada. He has created great misfortune, and he has left his money for creating further misfortune. [Laughter.]

Brahmananda Swami. The Gita says that demoniac people perform acts meant to destroy the world.

Srila Prabhupada. Yes. Ugra-karmanah ksayaya jagato ‘hitah (BG 16.9). They perform acts meant for inauspiciousness and the destruction of the world.

The Difference Between the Living and the Nonliving

[Srila Prabhupada points at a dead tree with his cane.]

Srila Prabhupada. Formerly leaves and twigs were growing from this tree. Now they are not. How would the scientists explain this?

Karandhara. They would say the tree’s chemical composition has changed.

Srila Prabhupada. To prove that theory, they must be able to inject the proper chemicals to make branches and leaves grow again. The scientific method includes observation, hypothesis and then demonstration. Then it is perfect. But the scientists cannot actually demonstrate in their laboratories that life comes from matter. They simply observe and then speak nonsense. They are like children. In our childhood, we observed a gramophone box and thought that within the box was a man singing, an electric man. We thought there must have been an electric man or some kind of ghost in it. [Laughter.]

Dr. Singh. One of the popular questions that arises when we start studying biology is “What is the difference between a living organism and that which is not living?” The textbooks say that the chief characteristics that distinguish the two are that a living being can move and reproduce, whereas dead matter can do neither. But the books never talk about the nature of the soul or about the consciousness of the living entity.

Srila Prabhupada. But consciousness is the primary indication that life is present. Only because of consciousness can a living being move and reproduce. Because a person is conscious, he thinks of marrying, and begetting children. And the original consciousness is described in the Vedas: tad aiksata bahu syam (Chandogya Upanisad 6.2.3). This means that God, the original conscious being, said, “I shall become many.” Without consciousness, there is no possibility of by-products.

The Individual Living Force

Srila Prabhupada. The gardeners supply water to the green trees, so why don’t they supply water to this dead tree and make it green?

Dr. Singh. From experience they know that it will not grow.

Srila Prabhupada. Then what is the element that is lacking? Scientists say that chemicals are the cause of life, but all the chemicals that were present when the tree was alive are still there. And these chemicals are still supporting the lives of many living entities such as microbes and insects. So they cannot say that life energy is lacking in the body of the tree. The life energy is there.

Dr. Singh. But what about the life energy of the tree itself?

Srila Prabhupada. Yes, that is the difference. The living force is individual, and the particular individual living entity that was the tree has left. This must be the case, since all the chemicals necessary to support life are still there, yet the tree is dead. Here is another example. Suppose I am living in an apartment, and then I leave it. I am gone, but many other living entities remain there — ants, spiders and so forth. So it is not true that simply because I have left the apartment, it can no longer accommodate life. Other living entities are still living there. It is simply that I — an individual living being — have left. The chemicals in the tree are like the apartment: they are simply the environment for the individual force — the soul — to act through. And the soul is an individual. I am an individual, and therefore I may leave the apartment. Similarly, the microbes are also individuals; they have individual consciousness. If they are moving in one direction but are somehow blocked, they think, “Let me go the other way.” They have personality.

Karandhara. But in a dead body there is no personality.

Srila Prabhupada. This indicates that the individual soul has left that body. The soul has left, and therefore the tree does not grow.

Dr. Singh. Within the living body, Srila Prabhupada, there are innumerable small living entities, but the individual self who owns the body is also living there. Is that correct?

Srila Prabhupada. Yes. In my body there are millions of living entities. In my intestines there are many worms. If they become strong, then whatever I eat, they eat, and I derive no benefit from the food. Therefore those who are full of hookworms eat very much but do not grow. They become lean and thin, and they are very hungry, because these small living entities are eating their food. So there are thousands and millions of living entities in my body — they are individuals, and I am an individual — but I am the proprietor of the body, just as I may be the proprietor of a garden in which many millions of living entities reside.

Student. So if I eat krsna-prasada [food offered to Lord Krsna], are the living entities in my body also eating prasada?

Srila Prabhupada. Yes. You are very benevolent. [Laughs.] You take krsna-prasada for others.

Karandhara. Welfare work.

Srila Prabhupada. Yes, but there are so many things within you for them to eat that you do not need to make a separate endeavor to feed them.

Minimum Words, Maximum Solution

Srila Prabhupada. The individual soul is never lost. He does not die, nor is he born. He simply changes from one body to another, just as one changes garments. This is perfect science.

Dr. Singh. But why don’t scientists accept this?

Srila Prabhupada. They are not nice men. They are rascals. They are not even gentlemen. Under appropriate circumstances, gentlemen will have some shyness or some shame. But these men are shameless. They cannot properly answer our challenges, yet they shamelessly claim that they are scientists and that they will create life. They are not even gentlemen. At least I regard them like that. A gentleman will be ashamed to speak nonsense.

Dr. Singh. They do not think before they speak.

Srila Prabhupada. That means that they are not human beings. A human being thinks twice before saying anything. Krsna makes the presence of life within the body so easy to understand. He says:

dehino ‘smin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha dehantara-praptir
dhiras tatra na muhyati

[“As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.” (Bg. 2.13)] In these two lines, Krsna solves the whole biological problem. That is knowledge. Minimum words, maximum solution. Volumes of books expounding nonsense have no meaning. Materialistic scientists are like croaking frogs: ka-ka-ka, ka-ka-ka. [Srila Prabhupada imitates the sound of a croaking frog, and the others laugh.] The frogs are thinking, “Oh, we are talking very nicely,” but the result is that the snake finds them and says, “Oh, here is a nice frog!” [Srila Prabhupada imitates the sound of a snake eating a frog.] Bup! Finished. When death comes, everything is finished. The materialistic scientists are croaking — ka-ka-ka — but when death comes, their scientific industry is finished, and they become dogs, cats or something like that.
